Issachar Trust

As part of Project Gateway's striving for sustainability and self-sufficiency, the Issachar Trust was established in 2004 as a profit making trust, the proceeds from which are used to fund community projects. The Issachar Trust comprises the the Volunteers and Teams Department as well as the emerging Conference Venues and Tourism initiatives linked to Project Gateway:

National MonumentTourism

The Tourism Initiative is one of the most innovative and creative projects attempted at Project Gateway. Funded by Gijima KZN, it focuses on the national and historical significance of The Old Prison site in which Project Gateway operates. The tourism department seeks to bring in visitors and organisations to learn about South Africa’s past and Project Gateway’s future.

The volunteer department welcomes and organises all the volunteers who come to help at Project Gateway. Giving up their time and money, volunteers come from both local communities and from as far away as North America, Europe and Australia.
